July 25, 2008
MALVERN, PA – Bob Roggio (D) received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Federation of Labor - Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), which according to their website, is the largest labor organization in the state, representing over 900,000 workers and their families from 51 International Unions and 1,422 Locals in all of Pennsylvania's 67 counties.
In speaking of the union’s endorsements, PA AFL-CIO President Bill George said, “These candidates have proven themselves to be the friends and supporters of working families. They understand that workers are struggling in this economy with stagnant wages, soaring prices for health care, gas and food. They advocate and support an agenda that mirrors the priorities of the labor movement. We are confident that they will put this country back on track toward prosperity and opportunity for all not the few.”
Bob Roggio has a proven record of supporting workers, creating jobs, and providing for employees. Throughout his 30-year business career at Zenith Products Corporation, Bob rose through the company's ranks to help run it, created 400 new jobs and tripled the company's income. He worked to ensure that all of his employees were eligible for quality and affordable healthcare coverage and provided vocational and technical training for eligible workers.
“We need new leaders who are ready to fight for change,” said Campaign Manager Liz Conroy. “Bob Roggio is a proven business leader who believes in standing up for employees and working for innovation. Bob’s life has been devoted to people, not special interests, and he is thrilled to have the support of the AFL-CIO.”
